I am pleased to welcome you to the website of the new UCLA Luskin Center for History and Policy. The Center was founded by a visionary gift from renowned UCLA benefactors, Meyer and Renee Luskin, in February 2017.
The goal of the Center is to generate and promote historically informed discussions of key contemporary issues, as well as to serve as a resource for policy makers at all levels of decision-making who believe that history can and should be a vital ingredient in their work. We believe that the Center’s work represents a fulfillment of UCLA’s mission as a great public university to serve both the campus and the broader community beyond.
In our inaugural year, we will be providing grants to the first class of Luskin Fellows at UCLA, who will be undertaking innovative research and designing new classes that bring history and policy together. (Click here for the Call for Proposals.) We will also be hosting a number of exciting public programs over the course of the 2017-18 year designed to highlight the close relationship between history and policy.
History should and does matter, and the Luskin Center aims to bring this principle to life through work of real impact. Please join us by helping to build this important new Center by donating. And do be in touch about any ideas you might have by emailing me at email@example.com.
