LCHP kicked off its events for 2018-2019 with a evening panel that featured a discussion of LCHP’s recently published white paper on the history of rent control in Los Angeles, entitled “People Simply Unable to Pay the Rent: What History Tells Us About Rent Control in Los Angeles.” To view the paper, click here.

Alisa Belinkoff Katz, the principal author of the white paper, began the conversation. Panelists included Richard Bloom (CA assemblymember), Elena Popp (executive director, Eviction Defense Network), Marques Vestal (Ph.D. candidate and historical contributor to the white paper), and Bill Witte (chairman and CEO, Related California). The panel was moderated by Gustavo Arellano (California columnist, LA Times).
